You can join the circle of support for the Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center in many ways. Whether it’s by making a donation, volunteering at a community event, serving on a committee, or learning more about our mission through a Help, Hope & Healing Tour, everyone is welcome to join us in creating communities within which all children are safe.
Here are some fun community events that have benefited the TBCAC…
Cherry Festival Make-N-Bake 2017
Every summer during the National Cherry Festival, Grand Traverse Pie Company educates the community about ending child sexual abuse through its popular Make-N-Bake event. Children and families learn about body safety while preparing delicious pies. Denise and Mike Busley lead a “We are Team Zero” chant to encourage everyone to visit the weareteamzero.org website for more information about keeping children safe. This year, the Grand Traverse Pie Company donated over $2,600 to the TBCAC through event contributions. Thanks to all who participated in the fun! We’re looking forward to seeing you again in 2018!
SwingShift & the Stars 2016
Christal Frost Anderson is an active member of our local community. She hosts a daily talk show on WTCM NewsTalk 580 and has been included in the Ticker’s 40Under40 list of the most influential young people in the area for three years in a row. This past fall, Christa took her advocacy one step further — literally — by volunteering to dance in SwingShift and the Stars to benefit the TBCAC. She strapped on her dancing shoes and grooved the cha-cha, swing, and salsa in front of packed audiences at the City Opera House from September through December. Christal’s dazzling performances and stunning heart raised $75,000 for the TBCAC and she received an award for the highest level of community support given to a charity at the event!
