Meet our Counseling Team

Meet our team of trained counselors at Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center.

Elizabeth Carrillo, MA, LPC
Director of Clinical Services

As clinical director, Elizabeth provides support and consultation to the trauma therapy team. Elizabeth has worked extensively with children and families in a therapeutic setting. She loves working closely with therapists and therapy interns who are working with TBCAC families.

Elizabeth is the mother of two children and has many four-legged friends; a dog, two cats, and a frog. She loves spending time with her family, enjoys swimming and being near the water, and can often be found with a good book.

Kim Fleming, LPC, NCC
Trauma Therapist

Kim uses a “client-centered” approach to therapy. She partners with clients on their healing journey and enjoys using art and play in therapy with younger clients. Before coming to TBCAC, Kim was a counselor in a school setting for over 10 years and understands the stressors that teens and families are facing. In addition to trauma therapy, Kim is trained in TF-CBT.

Outside of work, Kim enjoys time with her family and 2 dogs. She also loves taking walks, yoga, watching movies and cooking a delicious meal. By far, her favorite treat is chocolate chip cookies!

Katy Maximiuk, MA, LLPC Trauma Therapist

Kathryn (Katy) Maximiuk has over 20 years of extensive clinical experience in the treatment of anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual abuse, grief, and crisis-management. Katy employs a deeply individualized counseling approach, which prioritizes the client-counselor relationship. She subscribes to evidence-based psychotherapeutic techniques, and is skilled in conducting counseling for children, adults, families, and groups.

Outside of work, Katy enjoys spending time with her family and adventuring in Northern Michigan.
